Trained by WWE star, Brian Kendrick, Joey Ryan exploded onto the
wrestling scene as part of the X-Foundation in Pro Wrestling
Guerilla. From an early stage, Ryan has been a major success as
he made it to the finals of the tournament to crown the very
first PWG champion.
Not long after, he and Scott Lost would claim the PWG tag team
titles, a title that he would wear on more than one occasion.
Ryan is also one of the few competitors in professional
wrestling who has participated in a 60 minute Ironman Match.
But despite his wonderful technical prowess, his career has been
marred by his incredible ability to use underhanded tactics.
Ryan also appears to have an uncanny ability to be in the right
place at the right time.
That ‘luck’ would lead to him becoming the PWG Champion and
holding the belt for longer than anyone in the company’s
history. Ryan would also make the belt a World Title by
defending it in Europe.
After losing the title, Ryan would go on to feature as one half
of ‘That 70’s Team’ on the short lived MTV show, Wrestling
Society X.
And despite his amazing success as a singles competitor, Joey
has been one of the most outstanding tag team wrestlers in the
past 5 years. Tag team wrestling seems to suit Ryan as he can
exploit his ability to bend the rules in any situation. And his
team with Karl Anderson has led
to him becoming an NWA World Tag Team champion.
Ryan may look a little goofy but under that façade lies one of
the quickest thinking minds in professional wrestling today.
