Trained by the best in Australian wrestling, Damien Slater has
been on the fast track to success since his first day in this
industry. Being put through his paces by Col Dervany & Hartley
Jackson at the Monster Factory in South Australia held him in
good stead for his debut in 2003.
Slater impressed all with his natural feel for wrestling and he
excelled at the technical and mat based styles that he grew up
admiring. He captured the cruiserweight championship while
wrestling for Joint Promotions but he aimed to strive for
success as a heavyweight in Australian wrestling.
His passion for professional wrestling has seen him travel all
over Australia searching for competition and striving to find
new methods of training. His dedication to his craft is second
to none and his improvement continues even now.
It was a trip to Los Angeles in early 2007 that was a big
turning point for Slater. He not only grew in size, his
technique became sharper after spending time training under TJ
Perkins.
Since returning, Slater has scored some massive victories over
several big names in Australian wrestling. Both Hartley Jackson
and Mikey Nicholls have tasted defeat at the hands of Damien
Slater in 2007.
While he is the most inexperienced wrestler in the tournament,
he could have as much natural talent as anybody on the show and
it would take a brave person to write him off.
