Mikey Nicholls Jumps Into the Australian
Championship Tournament
NWA Officials today confirmed that Mikey Nicholls would be the
second name entered into the Australian Championship Tournament.
Nicholls had impressed NWA Officials in his two trips to the
United States and they felt that with his international
experience, he would be an ideal fit for the tournament.
Mikey has the honour of being the first Australian wrestler to
be confirmed for the tournament following the announcement of
Ireland’s Fergal Devitt.
Mikey’s career started in 2001 and since that time he has gone
on to become one of the most accomplished wrestlers in Australia
today.
Nicholls has competed Australia wide while being a mainstay of
Explosive Pro Wrestling, where he has held the EPW championship
on two separate occasions.
His two trips to the US have seen him wrestle and train at the
world famous Inoki dojo. He has trained under some of New
Japan’s finest wrestlers in Shinsuke Nakamura & Kendo Ka Shin.
While in the US Mikey had the opportunity to compete for the NWA
British Commonwealth title and the CMLL World Super Lightweight
Championship.
In 2006 he also travelled to Japan to wrestle for New Japan Pro
Wrestling. He teamed with Hartley Jackson to face Minoru Tanaka
and Hiroki Goto in a tag team match that was broadcast on
Japanese television.
On November 23rd 2007, he will go up against 7 other men for the
right to call himself the first NWA recognised Australian
champion. Can he be successful in front of his home crowd?
